There 6 Types of Medicare Advantage Plans:

Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans:

With an HMO, the Plan will only provide coverage when you see Medical Providers that are a part of the Plan's network of doctors, except in an urgent or emergency situation.

Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans:

With a PPO, the plan will provide coverage for both in network and out of network doctors. However, when seeing an out of network doctor, your costs will be higher.

Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) plans:

PFFS plans are similar to Original Medicare in that you can generally go to any doctor as long as the doctor accepts the Plan's payment terms. When you get care, the plan determines how much it will pay and how much you must pay.

Special Needs Plans (SNPs):

SNPs provide specialized health care for specific groups of people, like those who have both Medicare and Medicaid (DSNP), live in a nursing home (ISNP), or have certain chronic medical conditions (CSNP).

HMO Point-of-Service (HMOPOS) plans:

HMO Point-of-Service plans may allow you to get some services out-of-network for a higher copayment or coinsurance, but only after getting pre-authorization for the treatment.

Medical Savings Account (MSA) plans:

These plans combine a high-deductible health plan with a savings account. Medicare deposits money into the account (usually less than the deductible), which you can use to pay for your health care services during the calendar year. MSA plans don’t typically provide Medicare drug coverage. To get Prescription Drug Coverage you will need to enroll in a Part D Prescription Drug Plan.
